How To Delete Instagram Search History?

Today we will explain how to delete Instagram search history? By default, Instagram stores all the searches you do in the Explore section to help you avoid having to always write the things you are looking for, although that may help you to find suggestions for searches that you no longer want to use or that bother you.

For that, there is the option to erase history, and we will explain step by step how you can do it. Before that, so that you do not have any doubts, we will also explain what exactly it is for so that you know what will happen when you erase it.

How to delete Instagram search history?

The search history is the method with which Instagram tries to facilitate the processes a bit when looking for content on a recurring basis. The application stores all the users, tags or locations that you usually search so that you do not have to repeat these same searches.

It works only for the search section of the application. If, for example, you always search for certain tags or placements to see their content, when you go to the tags section or Instagram search locations, the terms you usually search for will appear.

These searches will also come out altogether, including those of users, in the main search section you go to when you click on the magnifying glass and hit the writing field at the top. For most users, this is comfortable, although you may want to stop appearing some punctual searches that you do not want to keep appearing or that you do not want someone to access your mobile can see.

Fortunately, there is an option in the application settings with which you can delete all the search history at once. Of course, keep in mind that after deleting it, all new searches you do will appear again in that section.

Configure your profile

To delete the search history, enter your profile in Instagram and click on the three stripes icon in the upper right corner to open the options side menu. In this menu, click on the option Configuration that you will see with the icon of a gear wheel at the bottom.

Once you are in the Settings menu, now go down to the Account section and click on the Search History option. It is an option to erase history directly, but it does not show it when you enter it.

Delete history

Once you are inside the Search History option, you must click on the Clear search history option. It is the only option that appears, and below it, you will see a text explaining that you will erase the searches in the Explore section.

A window will open asking if you are sure you want to continue. In it, press the Continue button to accept and erase the history. And that’s it, the search history will be erased, although it will be recreated again from the next searches you do from now on.

Hide searches on Instagram

Another option that you can do is simply hide Instagram searches for certain users. In this way, the empty history would not remain, but only those that could cause a problem would disappear-I do not want to get involved here.

Follow these steps to hide an Instagram search:

  • Open the app and access through the menu to the explore section (magnifying glass).
  • Click on the search bar and enter the first letters of the account you want to hide. When it appears, do what is known as “long-click” or what is the same: keep clicking on the name of the account.
  • The second menu will appear to hide the search.
  • This time there is no confirmation screen. If you click hide,
  • The suggested account will disappear automatically. To make it appear again you will simply have to do the search again.

Check that it is deleted

To check that you have deleted the history correctly click on the menu to explore on Instagram and perform a search. If you see that nothing appears within the block of recent searches is that it has been successfully deleted.
